Nature's Path - Organic Pumpkin Flax Granola - NOT Gluten Free

I was contacted today by a very concerned account executive from Nature's Path who says NONE of their granola is gluten-free. They do have many fabulous cereals which I've talked about in the past, the granola is neither wheat nor gluten free. I apologize to anyone I might have misdirected with this.

I have been delighted to be sent samples of new gluten-free products, but yesterday I had already shoveled several handfuls of Nature's Path Organic Pumpkin Flax Granola into my mouth before I thought to myself those fatal words "This is so good, I can't believe it's gluten-free."

While none of the ingredients contain wheat, one of the main ingredients is rolled oats and under the section where they say "This product may contain..." wheat was listed as an ingredient.

Nature's Path has a crunchy, new gluten-free cereal

Nature's Path has come up with a new gluten-free cereal called Whole O's.  It looks sort of like cheerios, but since it's made from rice and corn it tastes pretty different.  It is crunchy and doesn't get soggy in milk, unlike some other ring-shaped, gluten-free cereals on the market.  The best part is it's made from whole grain rice and doesn't use any artificial sweeteners. 

 Although their Mesa Sunrise continues to be my favorite, I'll definitely work this into my morning cereal rotation.

Nature's Path Gluten Free cereals

There was a recent report circulating that some of Nature's Path EnviroKidz cereals are not gluten free.  This is completely true.  I called their corporate office yesterday and found out that the entire EnviroKidz line was never supposed to be gluten free.  Certain of the products are and are appropriately labelled.

 The confusion came from Celiacs thinking that everything with the EnviroKidz label was gluten free and not realizing that kamut, one of the ingredients in some of the EnviroKidz cereals is a type of wheat.

I was most concerned that there had been some contamination issue, so I called to make sure my precious Nature's Path Organic Cornflakes were still safe - they are.  I eat them every morning, so it would be really upsetting if they had been glutened!

The company spokeswoman I talked to said they will be changing their packaging on products containing kamut and labeling the ingredient as "kamut - wheat" to avoid confusion in the future.
